Division responsibilities:

• Bridge inspections
• Bridge closing and openings (including signs and barricades)
• Bridge repairs, demolition, construction
• Guard rail installation
• Special Projects
• Assist elsewhere as assigned

Additional work:

• Report permanent sign installation problems and bridge weight limit sign problems
• Work zone signing
• Culvert-ditch-channel cleaning
• Enabling drainage (get storm water off road right-of-way).
• Right-of-way burning
• Brush removal (right-of-way mowable from fence to fence)
• Assist with snow and ice removal
• Assist with hazardous and emergency conditions

Bridge Maintenance:

Economic justification of repairs is necessary. All federally qualified bridges will be inspected at least once every two years. Other County responsibility drainage structures will be inspected as funding allows. This department handles 500 federal definition bridges and nearly 800 "County" size drainage structure.
